    When Suzanne Daubney and husband Mat took over the family farming business in 1998, little did they know what challenges would lie ahead.

    Now the managing director of Northcliffe-based dairy farm Bannister Downs, which was founded in 1924 and is one of the top dairy producers in WA’s South-West, Daubney’s takeover came at a difficult time with the deregulation of the dairy industry in 2000.

    “It was certainly a low point in our business, and the WA industry across the board,” the mother-of-four said.

  • Ethics Matter Most at Oz Creamery

    Innovative Western Australian dairy farmers Mat and Sue Daubney have added another feather to their cap.

    This month a state-of-the-art processing facility called The Creamery was formally opened on their Bannister Downs Farms in Northcliffe, 350km south of Perth.

    On hand to open The Creamery was Australia’s richest woman, the mining magnate Gina Rinehart, a friend and business partner of the Daubneys.

    Bannister Downs is proud of our decade of involvement with Buy West Eat Best, which supports the local food and beverage industry in Western Australia. 

    This year as Buy West Eat Best celebrates its 10th anniversary, we were thrilled to receive a special commemorative certificate awarded to Buy West Eat Best founding members.

    WA is the only state in Australia that enjoys a statewide food-labelling program - run by government and owned by industry - which assists industry in harnessing and leveraging to realise our opportunities.

  • Champion Milk at the WA Dairy Awards

    Results were announced for the WA Dairy Awards on Saturday night and Bannister Downs was the very proud recipient of the Champion Milk trophy for its Non Homogenised Milk.  Always a great reward for our hardworking team and a recognition of the beautiful area we farm in, which must have a great influence on our end product quality.
